Birthday and sunshine

Peter cooked me another delicious dinner for my (23rd) birthday this year, consisting of:

Homemade chicken, leek and mushroom pie

and the smoothest, creamiest lemon tart ever!

Today we made the most of the sun by taking a stroll through the fields and country paths to Ratby in order to deliver wedding discs to my latest bride.

Afterwards, we spent some time in my parent's garden soaking up some more of this glorious sunshine.

Here's to hoping the sun stays for a large amount of the 4 month summer we are just starting to enjoy together.

End of Uni year two

My second year of University is now complete! I gave my final presentation today and it couldn't have gone better, so I'm feeling very triumphant at the moment! My husband bought me this tray of delicious donuts in celebration- I don't know how long they will last!

Now to sit back, relax and enjoy a 5 month summer!

From today

Nice weather meant I could finally take my new lens outside and give it a little test run.
Thanks for being my model Gaz!

I am really rubbish at making decisions. Me and my husband regularly stand around after talking about something, unable to go any further with the subject because we simply cannot decide our next actions. It even happens with simple things like, "Which coat shall I wear today?" or, "Shall we start making dinner now?". We can stand around in a supermarket for ages trying to decide between two different brands of the same product. Luckily, we find it funny that we have this in common and just laugh about it.
For me, it extends to my photography too, as shown in this post. I absolutely cannot decide if I prefer this image in colour or black and white and if told I could only choose one to print or present, I would have a huge dilemma!

Which one do you prefer?

New equipment!

Meet the newest addition to my ever expanding Nikon family, the beautiful 50mm AF-S f1.8:

I am completely, utterly, absolutely in LOVE with my new baby! And completely, utterly, absolutely in love with my husband for taking me into town today to buy him! Yes, him, not 'it', because he has become a very special part of me in just a matter of hours!
The rain stopped me from going outside to use him, not because I don't like rain, but because I can't bear to get even a speck on him yet, he's too new and precious! So I played with him inside instead. We had a lot of fun together, picking out items around my home and setting them up on the table against my bright white walls. I am astonished at how this little lens works. 'He' is truly going to transform the way I take photographs, and I am so excited!

I eventually ran out of 'things' to photograph, and still not willing to put my lens down yet, I set up my wedding day jewellery and shoes to create a quick still life shot. I need to work on my arranging a bit but I love the light and the softness my little lens creates!

I cannot wait to bust this amazing little lens out in upcoming shoots, and to play around with him outdoors once the weather clears up. I have been CRAVING this lens for such a long time, and after today I can say it was totally worth the wait!

I am celebrating the (very close to the) end of University for this academic year, and also my end to the April A-Z blogging challenge by creating my very own personalised stamp for my images. I have been thinking about this for a while, but without wanting to procrastinate too much on what was most important, I saved it until now to design it. I have also changed up my blog banner a bit and co-ordinated this with my facebook page, so I'm all matchy matchy :)
After a couple of designs and mixing it up a little bit, I decided to keep it simple, yet effective, the outcome being this:

One from today

I am just a little bit chuffed!

I would like to thank all my new followers and fellow A-Z bloggers for your fantastic comments and support throughout the month of April during the blogging challenge. I hope you have experienced a small taster of what I see and welcome you back throughout the rest of the year and beyond!

April A-Z Blogging Challenge: Z

And finally, my 'Z' post! I really hoped I would eventually get here!

Whilst photographing the stunning sunset over Loch Linnhe, I shot my camera up towards the sound of the train zooming down the track by the side of the loch and without hesitation, snapped a photograph. Of course my manual settings were all set up for the sunset, causing severe underexposure here, but in a strange way, I really like it like this, with just the train illuminated with a couple of lights reflected in the loch underneath.
