Extended trip

Rachel C Phtotography is taking an extended trip at the moment, hence the lack of recent posting. I will be back in April to start my A-Z blogging challenge and share some gorgeous landscape shots of the Lake District! I hope you are enjoying this wonderful spell of sunshine- make the most of it while it lasts!

Gareth and Jaimie-lea Engagements

Gareth is my brother. He is in love with Jaimie-lea. They're getting married soon! Here are 'just a few' of their engagement pictures I shot at the beginning of the month at University of Leicester Botanical Gardens. I think it is becoming one of my favourite locations! You'll see why...

Looking forward to shooting their wedding next!

Published by the Curve Theatre!

I said a little while ago that myself and a few friends at Uni had been working on a project for the Curve Theatre recently, photographing their rehearsals of 'The Laramie Project', performed by students at DMU. Well, opening night was at the beginning of last week and my friend went along to see it and bought us back a programme. We were all impressed to see that a selection of our rehearsal photographs had been chosen to feature in it! We are all really chuffed!

(I learnt just now that my scanner is useless, hence the poor quality of these images!)

What a great couple of weeks it has been!

Til we meet again

We said goodbye to my sweet Gran today. My mum bought me these beautiful daffodils in honour of her. I remember her talking about how much she loved daffodils. She loved all flowers and never really wanted to mow her lawn because she wanted wild flowers to spring up in it!

I think they are very fitting to describe my Gran. They are bright, cheerful and simply beautiful. My Gran, as said by my Uncle, was all things bright and beautiful.
She was the sunshine of our lives.

I'll see you again Gran, I am so glad I have a knowledge of that. We love you so much.

Click on this link to the BBC's week in pictures to see one of my shots from the Royal Visit to De Montfort University earlier last week! I feel utterly privileged to have had one of my photographs chosen by the BBC to feature on this!

Royal Visit to DMU: In the crowd

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh and Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge visited DMU this week. As well as getting some shots of them, I also shot some photos in the crowd too. This is just a small selection!

Some people had been waiting for the 11:45am visit from as early as 7am. It started to show!

Others managed to give an excited cheer for the news cameras as they swept across the waiting crowds.

Some chose to get the DMU logo painted onto their face in support of this historic event,

while some chose to stand out a little more!

Not the most comfortable place to sit but I'm sure the view was great!

A fantastic gospel choir came along to entertain the crowds before singing for the Royal Party.

They even signed a song to accommodate everyone

and got very into the moment as they sang!

This little girl was part of a dance group chosen to entertain us.

Getting in line ready to greet the Queen of England.

A very smart bunch!

Royal Visit to DeMontfort University, Leicester

Four and a half hours stood still in a space not even big enough to lift my arms up properly, aching legs, back and shoulders and lots of being shoved around for...

 and this!

Not what I wanted or what I was told would happen, which sucks, but I am chuffed I can now say I have photographed the Queen of England!

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh and Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge visited DeMontfort University, of which I am a student, to kick off the beginning of Her Majesty's Diamond Jubilee Tour, celebrating 60 years of Queen Elizabeth II's reign.

'The Laramie Project'

Me and a few friends from my University group have been privileged to work with Curve theatre in Leicester for the last month or so. We had been asked to document the rehearsals of' 'The Laramie Project', which is a play acted by students from DeMontfort University, showing later this month, and also create a group shot of the entire cast to be used as web banners for DMU's web page for this production. I have personally attended three sessions of rehearsals, as well as having a hand in the group cast shot, which has proved to be an interesting experience! We have battled challenges with lighting and exposure due to the environment we have been given, however, we have worked through it! Here is a glimpse of what I have achieved.

*The Laramie Project: a collaboration between Curve theatre and De Montfort University.

The Laramie Project will run from 12th-17th March at Curve theatre, Leicester.*

An eight year old Princess

My little friend Naomi turned eight last month. She was also baptised a member of our church. Her mum made this beautiful white dress from scratch for her big day. Isn't she beautiful?!

Sixteen Miles: One Photo

My husband and I took a sixteen mile walk to Bradgate Park yesterday. THIS is my photo of the day.

We started out at 8:30am, walked the 6 miles to Bradgate through fields and country lanes, spent a few hours walking around the hills of Bradgate for 4 miles and then made the 6 mile journey back home again.
Needless to say we spent today recovering from it, resting our battered feet and tired legs!
All in preparation for our extended summer again this year! (Being a student pays off well in the end!)
