Ardnamurchan Lighthouse

After an unsuccessful attempt at photographing a lighthouse on the Isle of Skye (and getting spied on by some creepy old man with a battered pick-up truck), we took a trip to Ardnamurchan where this impressive lighthouse stands amongst the rugged rocks of the coastline. We took a walk/climb around the perimeter to view it from every angle. The weather at this point was very pleasant and if you look closely at the last photo, you can see a hint of a rainbow over the ocean, adding some colour to the overcast sky.

I have wanted to photograph a lighthouse for a long time now so I am glad of the opportunity to do so here in Ardnamurchan.

Plockton Seafront

Quaint Plockton Seafront. Capturing the quirkiest, prettiest and most nautical details of this secluded area. We all love some fresh, bracing sea air and this was the place to get a good dose of it! To top it off, a bag of salty chips from the local chippy, yum!

More Scottish beaches coming up!

Eilean Donan Castle

Eilean Donan Castle stands proudly along the side of the road as you drive by, so you can't miss it, and it's easy to see why. It stands among the most photographed castles in the world. It is joined to the mainland by an impressive arched bridge and is a location used in many films and tv programmes. Its atmosphere is made all the more authentic and Scottish by the presence of a Highland bagpipe player, who really set the scene beautifully. I managed to capture these vintage looking photographs without having to pay to walk up the bridge and see the inside, although I think these photographs are enough to promote it to those who might want to visit or find out more about it.

Highlands Getaway

I am now back from my short break to the Scottish Highlands. My husband and I decided to take a few days before uni starts to get away and enjoy some bracing fresh air, along with some strong winds and pouring rain! We camped at a beautiful place near Fort William and spent our time travelling to the Isle of Skye, Plockton, Arisaig, Glenelg, the Ardnamurchan Peninsula and surrounding areas. There was simply too much to photograph, but the beauty of the surroundings made it easy for me to capture what is shown here.

Below are tasters to following posts. Out of the 650+ photos taken over the four days, I have chosen the best from each place visited to show in separate posts during the next few weeks.

September Temple Trip

Beautiful weather + Beautiful surroundings = a happy photographer!
I continued with my ongoing project of finding a different view of the Temple and its grounds each time I visit. This visit was extra special as it was the first time I could attend as Mrs and not Miss anymore! As the summer weather (even as non-existent as it has been) begins to subside, I look forward to the changing season becoming evident in this little paradise.

Rachel C Photography is back!

I am back up and running at last! I have been three weeks without internet since I moved, which almost killed me, but I am editing and posting once again, making me one very happy girl! Here's some other things that have made me happy recently...
