After a hurricane comes a rainbow

I was just thinking about life whilst listening to Katy Perry 'Firework' in the background...one lyric that caught my attention was, 'after a hurricane comes a rainbow'. I instantly personalised this and came out with the outcome that everyone has stormy patches in their lives, big and small, tough and bearable, yet we always come out the other end brighter, happier and stronger. Might not see it at first, but it always happens, as long as we persevere. I'm in the process of coming out the other end. My rainbow hasn't quite broken through the clouds yet, but I have a feeling it soon will.

No post is complete without a visual! On my way to Lake Jordanelle in Utah last summer, we set out through a rainstorm, dark rolling clouds threatening to spoil our boating trip, however soon after pulling up to the lake, the rain ceased and out came a beautiful rainbow. We were able to enjoy a short, but extremely pleasing sail :)

Keep looking for your rainbows to appear, it may take longer than we plan or would like, but they always break through!

My little sister

I 'adopted' myself a little sister. I've ALWAYS wanted a little sister. She's 9 years old, likes baking and snuggles, and is incredibly beautiful! Take a look for yourself!..

Leicester Family Photographer: Toogood Family (Part 2)

Part two of the Toogood family portraits took place in Bradgate Park, Leicester. It is so beautiful here and has loads of cool places to take photographs. I love the way they matched their outfits with each other and the way they interact with each other. I do have to say, the photograph of them holding hands walking along the path is totally them, it's not staged or posed at all. It's just how they are. I love it :)

Leicester Family Photographer: Toogood Family (part 1)

I'm so excited to be able to post these now!
I was asked to complete a set of family photos in November 2010 for this family to send home to New Zealand for Christmas. They are one of my favourite families in the whole world, I almost want to be one of them myself! We shot in Castle Gardens and the area around DeMontfort University in Leicester where the fall colours were spectacular. They were a dream to work with, I enjoyed every minute! They are such a close family and all love each other very much, which is so evident in these photographs. Unfortunately the shoot got cut a bit short by a downpour, but stay around for part two, which I will post soon :)

Rediscovered

I was just browsing through some old photos I took a couple of months ago and came across this gem. After giving it some finishing touches, I can't believe I overlooked it before! I love it when this happens though. I find it a lot that when I come back to shoots I can pick out one or two that hadn't caught my eye before, but almost instantly stand out to me the next time around. This particular shot was taken in my beloved fields on a freezing cold, foggy morning, as part of a university shoot. Everything seemed to be swamped in a thick grey mist but this tree shone out from underneath it and proudly displayed its remaining rust coloured leaves.
