Working with colour

I love colour. It is soooo important to me in photographs. In the last week, I have been playing around with my lovely little editing programme and the results are gorgeous! I've always wanted to learn how to do this and I know I'm gonna have so much more fun with it :)

Global Sunset

To be completely honest with you, I'd forgotten all about these images. I took these a couple of months ago coming home from London on the motorway. The sun was just setting and the sky was divine...well, you'll see for yourselves! However, bear in mind I was travelling at about 50mph and shooting through a dirty coach window...

I LOVE sunsets :)

BTW- Today = WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Back to basics

This photograph was taken by me in August 2005 when I visited Malaysia with my family. In the reflection, you can see the beautiful cityscape of Kuala Lumpur, including the fascinating Petronas Twin Towers. I loved being there, and hope that one day soon I can go back and re-take all my photos using my bigger and better camera and my greater experience. I think it was this trip which ignited the passion of photography in me. There are so many opportunities for great, unique photos there and I am aching to go back and experience it all over again!

Take cover!

A few weeks ago, I was strolling through Leicester Town Hall square with my mum, when all of a sudden about fifty million pigeons took to the sky at about 70mph! It scared the hell out of me! I am not a fan of pigeons, especially low flying ones and large numbers of them circling around you in the air! But I got a photo anyway, once they'd calmed down a bit!

Lauren Sawai

This is my cute little niece, Lauren. I've never met her. But it doesn't stop me from loving her. She lives in Malaysia, which is where my brother went to live three and a half years ago. This is her birthday dress my mum and I sent to her this month. She just turned two. I did not take this photo...this is the work of my brother, but I thought I'd snazz it up a bit by adding the colour effects to it. I hope that one day soon, I can get my hands and camera on her big time!

Repost

I have to repost this gorgeous photo of my friend Amy's little boy, Ethan. He is so happy every time I see him and already a natural in front of the camera!

'Blue Monday'

So today is supposed to be the most depressing day of the year. The weather is supposedly cold and wet, the Christmas season is supposedly over, it's supposedly the worst time of year to find a job and have good finances and everyone is supposed to be miserable because of it all......

......SURPRISE! I break the mould!!!!! I am somehow very content with and excited about life right now! I don't have a job, I don't have any money, I don't have expensive possessions, and I don't have a special somebody to love, but hey, I have my battered up little camera and my passion for photography! And I have a loooong future ahead of me to do whatever I want with.

Just a little info about my experience of blue monday thus far...I started the day with a refreshing run down to and around my village park field, came home and got ready for the day. I strolled to the post office and library and then took an unplanned detour through to the fields again. The sun was shining and the birds singing and I couldn't help but smile. Saw the first signs of spring on the way, squelched through some sloshy mud, and photographed till my batteries ran out...

I am glad I break the mould of 'blue monday'. I am glad I am happy when society says I should be grumpy and mardy. And I am glad I'm alive in this beautiful world.
Here's the photos...

January Temple trip

First Temple trip of the new year. Fantastic. Had to capture the frozen pond and last dustings of snow left in the grounds. Even just looking up at the Temple can make me feel so much better, never mind being inside. It always looks beautiful no matter what season it is :)

Bleeding heart

It's been snowing allll day today, never mind the tonne of snow we've constantly had since before Christmas, and I know it's starting to get people down (not me, I freaking love it!)So here's a little taste of spring to cheer all the snow haters up :) I shot this in Temple Square, SLC last springtime. It sure looks beautiful for being called a 'bleeding' heart!

Megan

My friend Amy asked me if I could do some headshots for her sister, Megan the other day. Megan is trying to get her way into the world of modelling and I was pleased to help out :) I think they turned out pretty well for her first real time in front of a camera and my first time doing a proper shoot. See what you think...

I found out when I came home that just as I left, my new camera was delivered to my house...only, there was nobody in to recieve it!...so now I have to wait until Thursday :(

Highcross II

I took these photos before Christmas in the Highcross, Leicester. Love the unique architecture.
